National Interests Should not be the priority over providing help to the helpless and home, to the homeless, that are refugees. Because before Democrats, politicians, civilans of a proud country and professionals, we all are humans. And we have a religion to follow. The religion called humanity. We need to standup for our values. Compassion, respect for the needy etc are essential. Don’t you feel that not allowing them is a disgrace? Failure to protect the ones threatened by war, voilence etc will erode values of civilization.
Coming to some practical things, one must realise the importance.
Closing the door to those fleeing massacre will increase anti-human sentiment. Abandoning refugees in other camps will increase the risk that they fall prey to extremist recruiters and anti social people.
Allowing refugees has many more benefits. The country’s human resources increase. The productive human resources increase, which add to the development of the nation and its productivity. Employers too have a benefit. Cheap labour is available in excess as many go in search of livelihood as soon as they sattle. There are many refugees who are highly skilled and educated. Big firms need them as not every country providing refuge is rich in number of skilled labour. Ultimately, the economic growth would be up. This would lead to an increased GDP of the country. Moreover, the country providing refuge is Internationally recognised on platforms such as UN etc.
There is a long seen advantage too. When the crisis in the victim country ends, the realtion between the two nations strengthen. This leads to huge progress and bonds.
Ensuring education, training and basic services to them will reduce the risks of them turning to the dark sides. It might happen that many will eventually return to their homelands with a respect for our values and help build a new society there.
