Imagine a chubby you with a barrel-shaped stomach and a round, red plump face, chilling in the comforts of your cozy couch on a wintry Monday morning. With dim lights and laziness all around, you apply for a sick leave and go for ‘Work from Home’; enjoying your favorite episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. with a coke and a large chicken burger for breakfast. And then you’re tempted by looking at Joey being served with a large slice of pizza. Your mouth instantly waters at the thought of pizza being made at your nearest pizzeria, drowned in cheese dressing and zesty toppings, waiting inside those innocent oven doors to be fed upon by you. You just can’t wait to have it! You immediately catch hold of your phone with your pudgy palms to ping your buddy for a pizza-treat and satisfy your hunger pangs. An instant reply! And the plan’s made. You’re catching up with your best friend in the evening at your nearest Pizza Hut. But, on one hand your tummy craves pizza and on the other hand your lazy bums demand to recline. Going out for just a pizza! Oh, you’re too lazy for it. Instead, you call your friend for a pizza treat and order the same with some Mexican cheesy fries and garlic bread. You can’t wait for your stuff to get delivered. Soon, another thought strikes you. Partying without any dessert? That’s a rule breaker. And you decide to add up some chilled chocolate fudge brownies to please your taste buds. And this is how you end up your day stuffing all the junk in your tummy in the company of your friend, cuddling your beloved couch and laughing over F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Imagine a fine winter morning when you wake up to the chirping of birds luring you to experience the cool breeze that has gushed in. You head out straight into the kitchen to prepare yourself a cup of warm, invigorating herbal tea and sit back in your balcony amidst fresh air, brushing yourself with the latest news headlines. Thereafter, you head back to your room, pull out the curtains, set up the music and are in the mood for a rejuvenating yoga and a cardio session until your dogs start to bark; and yet the energy post-workout is mesmerizing. You take a quick shower and feed upon a bowl of sprouts, boosting you towards your work and meeting your deadlines, overcoming your Monday blues. You adorn a pretty smile all day greeting your colleagues and spreading positive vibes all around. For dinner you cook a healthy meal, low-on-calories, coupled with an appetizing salad, caring about your tender heart, followed by a brisk refreshing walk. Thus pass a stress-free Monday as you sleep with contentment.
I am sure most of us would find the former scene more appealing and comfortable, and the latter filled with labor but the more we sink into this upcoming lifestyle choice, the deeper we dwell into the dreadful world of disease.
Your ultimate fate depends on the choice you make, whether you choose instant happiness over long-term gains.
