I Drifted off

I Drifted off

I drifted off for a moment
When I saw her face,
Shining as a bright star;
All I could think
Was her waiting,
At the window.
Waiting anxiously for my return,
So that we can have lunch together.
Narrating stories from Bible,
That even Mom and Dad never knew.
Getting up early;
So that I’m not late for school;
She knew the value of time.
Seeing her lying in that coffin;
This is all I could think of,
But couldn’t cry.
Seeing her body buried in the grave,
I drifted off for a moment;
Thinking why does she have to leave?
I walked back home,
Without crying;
And I realized
No one is waiting for me,
At the window.
My tears met the ocean.
