‘Give me some Sun Shine’.

Education plays a very important role in our lives. It helps us to think, grow and explore the world, further, it also helps to develop our personality. An educated individual can contribute to the development of his family, the society and the nation. But sadly in India, it is seen as a medium to get jobs and earn money. Ever rising cut-offs, race to get into high profile institutes and getting highly paid jobs – it has become a rat race. For parents, only getting into IITS AND IIMS are the parameters of success. Hence they put unnecessary pressure to their kids to study hard and follow their dreams. This has led to a rise in private coaching institutes and has diminished the value of school learning.Students are the worst sufferers in this, leading to increasing peer pressure, depression and in some cases suicide.Pressure to fulfill the expectation of family, the pressure to outperform others adversely affects their health and psyche.Mugging up before exams, vomiting everything in the paper and getting good marks has become the trend of the day. This defeats the sole purpose of education that is to learn and explore. We must realize that only Engineers and Doctors are not successful in life. A child can be a painter, singer, sportsman, actor and everything he/she wishes to be. Every child is special and has some unique talent, we should encourage them to pursue their interests. Only earning money and social fame are not parameters of success. Unless we are happy and content in our profession we can never be happy. The need of the hour is parents should encourage and nurture the interests of their kids they will surely achieve success and make them proud. ‘Give me some sun shine, give me some rain.’
