Evolution of food trend in India

“Eating has now been a serious pastime and we Indians are loyal
food lovers.”
Indian food industry has gradually become one of the fastest evolving
sectors in economy. It has been extremely evolving in nature and is
expected to maintain positive development for the future. The history of
food trend in India is very old. Preparing food with proper methods were
introduced by harappa and mohenjodaro which includes cereals and
pulses. The Aryans travelled from Central Asia and introduced number
of cuisines which were complementary to vedic food culture. The
massive change occurs during maurya and Gupta empires. Most popular
Mughal cuisine was introduced by Muslims from Central Asia. Biryani
and Indian Vindaloo Dish was introduced by Portugese and Nizams.
These foods are still popular today in India.
Now-a-days , people have improved standard of living and often
experiments with different aspects of lives. It has witnessed in food
consumption and trends as well. Changes in production , processing ,
distribution and marketing of food are the key factors of evolution of food
trends in India. Apart from these , Increasing Urbanisation and
Globalisation are also other factors.
There is now increase in demand for healthy , organic , processed and
packaged food these days. People prefer more healthy , low fat and
sugar free food. Sweets such as gulab jamun , rasgulla were the major
attraction of people as Deserts are now replaced with ice creams and
chocolates. As people are now more health conscious , They prefer
more of fresh fruit juices , energy drinks , smoothies and all things
natural.
The future of food is excited indeed !
