A drop of humanity part I

A drop of humanity part I

In this world full of unsafe zones for girls everywhere, in this time where a girl is never safe be that the roads at night, a moving bus or a temple which I shouldn’t forget to mention, I must say it is a big deal to SAVE ONE GIRL.

As everyone is feeling ashamed of some guys showing their brute nature, the stories of people trying to save a girl is always kept hidden.I want to share this not because it is related to someone I’m very close to, I want to share this  not because it is related to me but I want to share this story because I want people to know, that there is still some humanity left. I want people to get inspired and become inspiring if they get a chance to, just like, my mother did.

It was back in 2016 December, when my mother decided that she’ll work from home because she had worked enough for 17 years and it was now time to spend time with family. Till 17 years, she went outside to work, and so did our dad. We always had this “FULL TIME MAID” and touchwood, all of them were good enough to help our mother in nurturing us. This time, in 2016 we had a different case. The agency providing the maid, had send a girl. She was underage, we knew, so we all rejected to keep her. The owner of that agency had good communications with us, so she shared the story of this girl. She said

“This girl belongs to a tribal family. Her parents died long back and she lives with her uncle and aunt who tortured her for around 13 years now. She was hit hard in head once and so her grandparents sent her to this agency so that she is free from that place” we all sympathized with her. When I went near and tried to talk, I discovered that she was mentally ill. Not to a very great extent, not a very dangerous one but yes she was not normal. The lady told us that she has already become a burden to her and nobody is ready to take her. She also told us that she has decided to let this girl go. YES, LET HER GO. Where, she didn’t know, how she didn’t know, what will she do, who cares? But she should be gone. We all thought that she wasn’t doing the right thing but then we knew that honestly, keeping her with us was a bad idea toot  Both of them left soon.

It was like 15 minutes since they had left and my mother wasn’t comfortable. She went inside the room to have a word with my dad. She said ” What if she really leaves that girl somewhere? This monster like world will eat that girl up. We,  being the parents of 2 daughters can’t let that happen” these were the exact words that I heard that day.

They both had a long discussion that day. They talked about all the pros and cons and finally concluded that we will keep her with us. Mom told me that it will be very difficult to manage to keep a maid who is mentally unhealthy, it is a great responsibility. We cannot leave her to become another nirbhaya or something. My mother is a believer of God so she told me that God might have sent her to us purposely, to take care and groom that child. She was just 17. And then ..
