I Am Just A Girl

I Am Just A Girl

Tell me how I am inferior to everyone around me,
How I shouldn’t voice my opinions as they don’t matter,
How my voice doesn’t deserve to be heard,
For I am just a girl.

Tell me, in the rudest tone you can manage, that I am a bimbo,
That my long hair and the make up on my face are a sign of my dumbness,
Shout at me for having an opinion that contradicts yours,
For I am just a girl.

Tell me how I won’t get a good husband if my rotis aren’t a perfect circle,
How my expertise in the kitchen is more important than my expertise in the physics lab,
How my brother has to handle money and I have to handle the laundry in future,
For I am just girl.

Tell me how my double X chromosomes make me inferior,
How I should bow down in front of the ones with Y chromosomes,
How I live at their mercy and I am nothing without them,
For I am just a girl.
