It was one of those washroom selfies that she sent me with her iPhone logo flashing in the mirror asking me how she was looking. My reflex answer to this back in my mind was just ‘Aukat-se-bahar’, but I kept it subtle and said ‘It’s good’. They say love is blind. Let’s just improvise it and say that LOVE is actually blind without any METAPHORS. There is no denying the fact that the looks that the love of our life flaunts make us go weak on our knees. But it is this particular mesmerizing look that makes us feel down as we don’t even manage to stand up and say a simple ‘HELLO’, because we THINK, she is way out of our league. So here are some moments that define the scenario in much subtle manner.
The urge to shamelessly stalk her social media profile and pretending that I am over her just doesn’t settle down. I am probably more involved in her life than anyone else, but just behind the monitor screen. Stalking someone has evolved through ages. No matter how much the technology and we have advanced, the pure risk of admiring the love of my life through the college library bookshelves just can’t be found in the sacks of modern day ‘likes’ and ‘pokes’.
We live in an age where even a silly emoticon expresses more emotions than our eyes. It’s not about the lack of love, but the lack of confidence that dwells inside us just because, well, her ‘guy-friend’ took her for a long drive. Fun fact, he doesn’t own an ordinary car like WagonR (like how I do). With each day passing, I always feel that if I could have just gathered a bit more courage, things might have been different today. But deep inside I know, what a great sucker am I.
The gossips of her seeing someone always makes my face pale. Questions like – ‘How could she’ and more importantly, ‘HOW DARE HE’ trolls me in and out. I choose to ridicule such rumors, but deep down, my insecurity melts like a perfect mercury metal.
But no matter what happens, at the end of the day, she always gives me a reason to wake up bright in the morning. No matter with whom she hangs out, post pictures with, tags in online meme for being special in her life, for me, the memories of seeing her for the first and falling for her at that exact moment can never fade away by such rootless social media gimmicks unless and until if those posts and tags are about me. Because hey, such one-sided love makes you a complete hypocrite.
So here were some of the feelings that a person goes through when he falls for one who doesn’t have any idea about it. That’s the beauty of it (if you can find one). But I would like to point it out that the emotions shared in this article weren’t solely mine. So take a chill pill, I am not that of a stalker, shallow person and definitely not a Hypocrite.
