Reading is a very good habit but sadly very few youngsters read. All the time they’re engrossed in their mobiles or laptops or in any other electronic device. By doing this they’re not only killing their time but also ignoring some finest collections and their heritage. Whenever you ask some youngster what they’re reading, they’re answerless. That’s because they’re never introduced to them in an interesting way. I’m not blaming parents and teachers for this but the way they’re using to inculcate reading. All they’re doing is just instructing the children to read and putting up restrictions on them if they don’t do so. Believe me, I’m a youngster too and I know if my parents instruct me to do something and then put restriction on me if I don’t do so, I’m definitely gonna revolt against it by not doing it at all. Let’s take up my story. For you all to know, I was a boy who wasn’t much of a reader. Every time my parents asked me to read something I took an encyclopedia and started reading it. This really made my parents angry as I’ve read that thing like 100 times and could tell it word by word. They wanted me to read some story book or a novel but I thought that they’re for dummies. My language too was not very good and I didn’t have many friends as well. People were not ready to talk to me because I had a very limited thinking and I was always out of interesting content. Well that’s sideline, my basic idea of telling this was to give you all an idea how youngsters are these days. Like other parents they could’ve put up restrictions on me but instead my father used a thing called “COMPUTER”. He made several presentations and animated videos about the world of books, their boons and banes, each and everything explained an animated guy named ‘Dr. Bookie’. He was really an awesome character and you all won’t believe but it actually made me read books. That had so intense effect on me that till today I cannot sleep unless I read some pages of a novel. All my pocket money is spent on books and whenever I find someone reading something, I ask them about that book and all the relevant details. This way I’ve made numerous friends. My command over the language is very good too.
So in conclusion, I just want to say that reading not only improves a person’s thinking and language but also improves his character and helps him to make new friends.
